An Account of the Days of Abigail discovered by Cecilia Ergueta edition by Cecilia Ergueta Petra Ergueta Children eBooks

As one of this budding author's third grade teachers several years ago, I could not be more proud of her first published work. Having a passion for historical fiction, Ms. Ergueta has crafted an engaging narrative of an opinionated heroine during the medieval era, giving a voice to an otherwise silenced part of history while reminding us of our shared humanity across the ages.

The strength of the narrative comes from the "real" voice of the protagonist and the intertwining of meticulous research and creative elements. Historical fiction is at its best when it can convey a compelling story about our past that gets otherwise uninterested readers engaged with a historical topic. Ms. Ergueta's tale does just that.

I have much confidence that this is not the last we will hear from this young author!

An Account of the Days of Abigail discovered by Cecilia Ergueta edition by Cecilia Ergueta Petra Ergueta Children eBooks Reviews

This young author has written a lively, engaging story about life many centuries ago. I felt transported in time and eager to learn what would happen next to our young heroine, Abigail, who writes faithfully to her diary describing the events and people in her life, including a secret admirer. (You must read the story to learn whether Abigail will discover who her secret admirer is, and whether more will come of that relationship.) Full of colorful characters and vivid imagery, the story is also humorous in spots. This book makes for very enjoyable reading, even for an adult, but I expect the story would be particularly fascinating for young women looking forward to their teen years. I myself will look forward to many more wonderful books from Ms. Ergueta in the years to come.
The diary of a Medieval teenager - how cool is that?!

And the author should know, because she's a teenager herself.

Highly recommended to anybody who enjoyed "Catherine Called Birdy" or "The Midwife's Apprentice".

Abigail is a 14 year old girl living in 13th century England. To quote her own words "I am the eldest daughter of six children, and I can tell you, it is not easy."

Her mother is a seamstress and Abigail is striving to learn this trade, too. When she is not trying to escape her many siblings or sewing a hem, she is also looking for true love.

Just your typical Medieval teenager... NOT. Abigail is one interesting young lady with a personality to boot, who does not give up when life gets tough.

How little has changed throughout the centuries Abigail faces a lot of the same issues we do. Yet the same time, we realize how different her world is from ours. And exactly here lies the fascination of this wonderful book.

I hope to see more of this author in the future.
I found myself loving this book. The way that the author describes the role of Abigail as the eldest daughter drew me in. Very insightful!

I look forward to more books by Cecilia Ergueta!
Interesting story read for people who like books about usual life in history or to see what families were like
Liked that Abigail got to marry who she wanted I'm my opinion arranged marriage is not a marriage. Not a great read but not bad.
The story captures the period of the late thirteenth century and brings alive the characters in a very charming story with just enough suspense to hold your attention to the very end.

The author researched the topic extensively and has provided us the readers with an ample list of references.

Great work by this young author!
I've always been interested in how life would have felt "way back when", before television, before books were even generally available. This "Diary" hints at what it that might have been like. Tradition was of course a strong determinant of behavior, but Abigail shows that initiative could be rewarded as well.
